Go to the ebike comparison tool at the bottom of the page or if you want to see all of the eBikes in one big spreadsheet, you can go to the full eBike comaprison spreadsheet here.
It the best eBike because it solves a wide variety of needs for many different types of eBike riders
It folds into a box, so it's good for apartment living, RV's or camping
It's easy to ride so seniors and beginners love it
It's stand-over height just over 18 inches so it fits short riders while still working for tall riders
It doesn't give up performance with a 1000W peak motor, a long range battery option and hydraulic disc brakes for safety
And it's made by one of the leading brands in the market today
If I were just starting out, it would definitely be my choice for the best eBike for beginners under $1000.
But, there a few more eBikes just over $1000 that are just as good or better.
It would be a dis-service not to include them.
Think of this as the best electric bikes around $1000 or under $1200
I picked 3 of my favorite affordable eBikes from the eBike comparison spreadsheet.
The best thing is they are all offered by high quality brands.
I see a lot of eBikes I've never heard of.
So, the first thing I do is research the brand.
Why did they start building eBikes?
How long have they been in business?
What country are they from?
I'm biased toward American made eBikes, but I realize China is the center of things eBikes...
Just to get a sense of how likely the brand will still be in business years from now.
I know I can't predict the future.
But I sure feel more comfortable with a well know brand building eBikes for the right reason.
Lectric XP 3.0 for $999
Ride1UP Turris for $1095
eBike speeds are regulated by the class level of the eBike.
Class 2 is 20mph
Class 3 is 28mph
Most of the eBikes listed below are class 3, so its hard to say which one is faster when in class 3 mode.
But, many eBikes can be unlocked to go faster.
Volts and the Controller Amps will determine how fast the bike will go.
There are all kinds of reasons you shouldn't unlock an eBike so I'm going to stay away from this question.
Electric Bike Company Model J for $1195
The model J from EBC is my favorite eBike!
Yes, the price has a lot to do with it. But I'd pick it over a lot of $2000 eBikes
I love the moped style with the long bench seat
It'll have an upright comfortable riding position
I can customize just about anything to exactly what I want
I fits very tall and heavy riders
It's only 51lbs
It can have a torque sensor
It can hold up to 3 batteries
I can have a single-speed for simplicity and low maintenance
I barely pedal anyway, but if I did want to pedal, I could order it with a 7-speed.
Did I say I like how it looks
